2. Expert advice to dress your body type

It’s important to understand a few things before jumping into the specifics.

  • Balance:

Your body shape isn’t based on your weight, it’s based on your bone structure. You can use clothes to create a balance between your upper and lower body.

  • Attention:

Use colours and lines to create focus on where you want it to be. Bright colours will always draw more attention than neutrals, so will prints and patterns than solids.

You hold the power to draw attention as well as, de-emphasise whatever you want to.

3. Do’s for hourglass body shape

  • Highlight your waist:

An hourglass figure is the perfect shape to sport some structured clothes. Here are some clothes for hourglass shape.

  • Fitted tops:

Sporting fitted tops will highlight your natural curves and create emphasis on your defined waist.

  • V and round necklines:

Creating a curve or angle around your chest is a great way to take attention from your fuller bust to a defined waist. Hence, choose them over high necks.

  • Dresses for hourglass body shape:

jumpsuits are a great way to highlight your already balanced portions. Apart from that wear dresses with fit and flare and wrap dresses also work great for you.

  • Blazers and Coats for hourglass body shape:

Just like tops your blazers and coats also need to create focus on your waistline. Hence, wearing shapes that have belts or just end right at your waistline work best for you such as cropped ones.

  • Oversized:

Such shapes fall straight from shoulders to hips. Hence, stopping any attention that your defined waist could have drawn.

  • Voluminous shoulders:

One perk of having an hourglass figure is having proportional shoulders and hips. However, when it comes to statement shoulders, it’s definitely a no-go. As such shapes distort your proportions.

  • Heavy flounces on the bust:

Statement prints around your bust can create unnecessary attention around that area. Your body type most probably has a fuller bust. Hence, it’s more advisable to steer clear of this attention.
