Name: Abhinav & Nikita
Background: A couple preparing for a destination pre-wedding shoot across the historic city of London and the serene English countryside.
Event: Destination pre-wedding styling and on-site execution in London and Castle Combe.
The Challenge
This project marked a milestone for Styl Inc., our first international, on-site pre-wedding styling assignment. Abhinav and Nikita did not provide a detailed brief; the only non-negotiable was their itinerary: London landmarks, the countryside, and a potential extension to Scotland. With this minimal direction, we were entrusted with complete creative freedom, relying solely on their body types, color suitability, and the September weather, a chilly, rainy period that called for layering.
Styling Needs:
- 6–7 coordinated looks each for Abhinav and Nikita
- A balance of structured and flowy silhouettes
- Cold-weather layering is styled perfectly.
- Complete curation for Nikita (outfits, footwear, jewelry)
- Curation for Abhinav (layering pieces, accessories, shoes)
Weather Constraints:
- Early September brought unpredictable rain
- Chilly winds required warm layers that still photographed well
- Shoot schedules had to adjust to sudden weather shifts
Personal Preferences:
Nikita wanted a special look that included an LV dress gifted by Abhinav, which she was keen to wear at one of the primary London landmarks. Additionally, she preferred incorporating luxury jewelry from her own collection. Abhinav preferred mostly casual and structured looks but was open to our layering suggestions.
The Solution
With no explicit brief, Styl Inc. crafted an end-to-end styling strategy rooted in the locations, the season, and the couple’s personalities.
Consultation Process
Our month-long journey began with virtual consultations. We created mood boards, shared outfit combinations, and finalized selections via WhatsApp, calls, and video sessions. Since the couple wasn’t with us for most shopping trips, we relied on precise measurements, visual references, and quick feedback loops.
Outfit Selection
For Nikita, every look except the LV dress was styled and shopped by us, gowns, coats, boots, accessories, belts, and more.
For Abhinav, one or two looks were created from his existing wardrobe, and the rest were shopped in line with the color palette and themes.
We designed a mix of:
- Neutrals for classic London backdrops
- Deep tones for dramatic countryside visuals
- Flowing gowns to bring cinematic movement
- Layered, warm looks suitable for the chilly weather
Accessories and Details
Nikita’s looks included:
- Carefully selected boots and heels
- Jewelry primarily from her own luxury collection and new dainty pieces we shopped for to add to her collection.
- Mixed-and-matched accessories to maintain visual harmony
Abhinav’s styling included:
- Belts, watches, shoes, and key-layering pieces sourced through us
- Color-coordinated outfits to complement Nikita’s looks
We finalized 6–7 looks each, all planned in a cohesive sequence that mapped perfectly onto the itinerary.
Implementation
Fittings & Adjustments
Nikita required two complete rounds of trials due to gown alterations, which involved coordination with boutiques in Delhi and Mumbai. Abhinav needed only one trial, as his looks were mostly structured or casual. After final fittings, we tested complete looks, boots, jewelry, accessories to visualize the final outcome.
On-Site Coordination in London
Styling execution began the moment we landed.
Shoot Rhythm:
- Hair & Makeup: 4 AM
- First Look Shoot: 7–8 AM
- Second Look: Evening
This continued daily, for multiple days, across multiple locations.
Weather & Location Management:
- Sudden rain forced updates to our location plan.
- The initial plan of covering London first and then Scotland had to be altered.
- Eventually, Scotland was skipped entirely due to schedule disruptions.
Instead, we traveled two hours outside London to the picturesque countryside of Castle Combe, a charming village that offered a Scottish aesthetic and allowed us to use the planned outfits beautifully.
In London, we covered:
- Westminster Abbey
- London Eye
- Greenwich University (home to our favorite shot)
On-Site Styling Duties
Our team handled every detail on the ground:
- Segregating outfits, jewelry, and accessories according to the shoot location.
- Prepping everything in advance.
- Managing coats and layering, removing and adding them between shots
- Fixing hair affected by wind and rain
- Retouching makeup due to changing light and lack of sunlight
- Managing accessories and bags; advising against handbags to maintain movement
- Monitoring every shot with the videographer to ensure gowns, coats, and details looked perfect
- Trail management for gowns, ensuring perfect flow and movement
- Taping flowy outfits securely
- Carrying heels and boots as Nikita switched frequently for comfort
During the last day, sudden rain created an opportunity for a spontaneous running-in-the-rain shot—now one of the most memorable moments from the shoot.
The Results
The final visuals were exactly what we had envisioned and, in many cases, even better.
