Dress the way you want to represent yourself in society, not just for yourself, is an age-old notion. But the fact now is, what you wear makes you confident, and confident men never fail to attract people. Having said this, a tie is one such accessory anyone can dress up to look smart even in a casual outfit. It takes a person’s personality up a notch. Yet many individuals are confused about how to wear a tie, or ways to wear a tie!

Read these 4 ways to wear a tie:

The Four-in-Hand Tie Knot

The very basic and the easiest type of tie knot is the Four-in-Hand knot. Basically, the knot is small, slightly asymmetrical in shape and looks best with narrow collars. You can go for this tie knot for casual situations. The reason is, the knot doesn’t look so complex and it doesn’t take much time either.  Moreover, if you are in a hurry, learning this knot will surely be a saviour for you!

  • To begin with, just cross the wide end over the narrow end of the tie
  • Take the wide end up, and start folding it underneath the narrow end
  • Now again pass the wide end over the narrow end horizontally
  • Pick up the same wide end and loop it around your neck in the front
  • Lastly, tighten the knot appropriately and pull it up to your collar to give it a clean look

The Half Windsor Tie Knot

The Half Windsor is yet another easiest type of tie knot. It is even a popular version of the traditional Full Windsor knot, which is mentioned in detail below. Once you learn to tie the Half Windsor, the full Windsor would surely be your cup of tea.

This type of tie knot is usually made from a thicker fabric, and it’s also known as the modest version of the Windsor knot. This tie never fails to give a formal look since it’s symmetrical and triangular in shape. We would advise you to go for the Half Windsor knot for just the office environment, and not casually. The Half Windsor knot stepsSource – Nexoye

  • The fancy way to tie a tie is always by beginning with the wide end over the narrow end
  • Take the wide end and not fold it underneath the narrow end.
  • Start pulling the wide end upwards and later downwards through the loop
  • Pick up the wide end and move it horizontally over the narrow end and now take it through the loop
  • Lastly, pull the wide end in the front appropriately through the knot
  • To give a finishing touch, tighten the knot and pull it up to the collar.

The Full Windsor Tie Knot

The Full Windsor type of tie knot is exceedingly difficult than other types of tie knots. It’s age-old yet the best-suited ones for formal occasions. We will not recommend you to wear such a large symmetrical triangular shaped tie knot casually. Since the knot itself is self-releasing and is longer than a conventional tie.

Usually, the full Windsor tie knot looks best with silk fabric and not the tweed or knitted ones. The reason is, these fabrics might look bulky for this knit. Reserve this classy knot for official presentations, weddings and important meetings. To make the look overwhelming, we will recommend you to use darker and more spaced out tones!

The Pratt Tie Knot

The Pratt knot popularly known to be the Shelby knot is the trendiest type of tie knot you will ever see. Even though it’s a century-old tie knot,  many tie wearers still prefer it because of the classiness. The knot is simple, stylish, and easy to make. It looks great with semi-formal and business casual wear.

The knot is neither too wide nor too narrow, hence you can pair it with any shirt pattern. The Pratt knot is a great alternative to the Four-in-hand knot, since it’s medium-sized. You have to read the instructions properly, because the steps differ a lot from the previous ones!
