After five years of being together, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt tied the knot at their home on April 14th. The intimate wedding ceremony took place at the couple’s home Vaastu, where the two spent the majority of their dating period. The ceremony took place at 3:30 PM with the blessed presence of the Kapoors, the Bhatts and the couple’s closest friends. The Ranbir Alia wedding has proved to be the advent of many wedding trends. With their move away from the Big Fat Indian wedding to their fresh take on fashion, we are sure there will be many people looking towards the couple. Ranbir Kapoor Alia Bhatt Wedding Fashion 

When the news of Ranbir and Alia’s wedding came about, the first question on everyone’s mind was about the whole lehenga Alia would wear. The names in the mix were Manish Malhotra and Sabyasachi. No one ever questioned whether she would wear anything other than a lehenga at all! But boy did she take the road less travelled. Additionally, as per fashion norms, no one gave a thought to what Ranbir would wear. Ranbir Alia Wedding Looks

On the night of her wedding to Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt took to her Instagram account and shared images of the ceremony. This was the first glimpse for every one of the couple and their outfits. The most obvious detail here was that the couple was twinning in their coordinated Sabyasachi outfits. 

Alia Bhatt’s Saree

For her wedding to Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt ditched the mainstream lehenga and opted for a saree. Her sheer organza saree was a hand dyed ivory featuring fine tilla work. She Paired the look with a matching blouse that had quarter sleeves and a v-neckline. The entire saree with the blouse had beautiful butterflies embroidered on it with gold. The outfit was then teamed with an ivory embroidered handwoven tissue veil. Definitely the outfit of our dreams. Alia then finished the look with heritage jewellery from Sabyasachi showcasing uncut diamonds and hand strung pearls. Alia Bhatt’s outfit was the perfect minimalist look for a day wedding that was completed with natural-looking makeup and an easy hairdo. We are sure that this is a makeup look that will be copied everywhere!

The Details

An interesting thing to note is how the beautiful bride Alia gave nods to her love through her accessories. Alia Bhatt wore custom kaleeras that has the infinity symbol on them as well as clouds and stars. This was a reference to Ranbir Kapoor whose lucky number is 8. Even her mangal sutra had the infinity symbol for the same reaosn.

Ranbir Kapoor’s Sherwani

Ranbir Kapoor was twinning with his beautiful bride in a sherwani by Sabyasachi. The embroidered silk sherwani featured uncut diamond buttons. It was paired with a silk organza safa and a shawl full of zari Maori embroidery. Ranbir accessorized the look with a kalangi from Sabyasachi, diamond studs and a long pearl necklace. The Kalangi showcased raw, uncut diamonds along with pearls and emeralds. 

The Mehendi

The frenzy was not yet over with the wedding pics when the Mehendi images from the Ranbir Alia wedding were revealed. We saw the couple coordinated with perfect pink outfits partying the day away at their Mehendi ceremony.

Manish Malhotra’s Lehenga

Alia Bhatt proved to be the quintessential Manish girl with her pink lehenga by the esteemed designer. For the Mehendi ceremony, Alia Bhatt wore a pink lehenga with multi-colour floral embroidery and sequined gold patterns. The lehenga had a halter neck blouse paired with a patchwork craft heavy skirt. 

The custom lehenga took 3000 man hours to make with its intricate handwork. It featured embellishments in real gold and silver nakshi and kora flowers as well as vintage gold metal sequins from Kutchh. Bordered in real gold zari and appliques, the handwoven silk ensemble included a plethora of fabrics. These fabrics included banarasi brocades, jacquard, bandhani, kachha Resham knots and scraps from Manish Malhotra’s previous bridal outfits. 

The look was made more celebratory with statement jewellery featuring emeralds and Kundan. Bhatt again opted for her signature no-makeup makeup look with dewy skin and nude lips. 

Ranbir in Pink

Coordinated with his bride-to-be, Ranbir wore a pink Sabyasachi Kurta-pajama set with a Nehru jacket. As an ode to his father the late Rishi Kapoor, the groom wore his father’s watch. His Mehendi design featured a heart with Alia’s name in the middle. We don’t know about you, but we are definitely swooning here. 

Ranbir Alia Mehendi After-Party Looks

For their after-party, both Ranbir and Alia continued with the traditional theme. Alia wore a minimal Anarkali suit by Sabyasachi in a regal red. The kurta featured flowy sleeves and a deep scoop neckline. She paired it with churidar pants and a sheet red dupatta with an embroidered gold floral border. The all red look made her look like the new bride she was. Alia styled the suit with her signature natural makeup accessorized with her mangalsutra, bagels, rings and a maang tika.

Ranbir wore a suave white urta pajama set. He layered a red Nehru jacket with gold buttons on the top to match with his bride looking as dashing as ever. 

The Reception

Unlike most Bollywood receptions, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt chose to have an intimate celebration of their wedding. For the event, Alia chose to wear an Oscar de la Renta cocktail dress. The sequin embroidered silver mini dress featured a scoop neckline and a ruffled skirt. Going with naturally tousled hair and minimal makeup, Alia chose to forego accessories. The ruffle dress was more than enough to celebrate in style. She finished the look with classic black heels. 

Ranbir went for the classic look to complement his chic wife. Looking dapper in a black suit with a white shirt, he channelled all the Bunny energy he had with the Bandtameez look. The looks certainly made the couple a sight for sore eyes.
