The Simplest Checklist For Your Mehendi

Talk to Your Mehendi Artist Beforehand

Mehendi artists do not charge by length anymore. Their charges now vary according to design, the number of people and the amount of time it takes to create any design. As you must be aware, the charges for bridal Mehendi and those of Mehendi for guests also vary. It is extremely important that you talk to your Mehendi artist regarding charges, times, and everything before you proceed to book them on specific dates. Also, talk to them about the general number of guests on whom they will apply Mehendi so that you are not short of artists on the day. Additionally, it can also be useful to get a trial so that you can rest satisfied that the Mehendi artist really knows what they are doing.

Start The Bridal Mehendi Before Your Guests Arrive

Apart from the bride, the most important people at a Mehendi ceremony are the Mehendi artists. Especially the ones who work on the bridal Mehendi. Since the bridal Mehendi takes hours to finish, we advise you to call the artists before the ceremony starts. An hour or two before the arrival of guests is the prime time. This will ensure that you are not stuck in one place for the entire duration of the event. Some people also call their bridal Mehendi artists the night before the ceremony so that the bride is free to move on the day of the event.

Keep a Separate Folder of Your Mehendi Designs

The best way to keep things smooth sailing for the Mehendi ceremony is to keep a separate folder of your preferred Mehendi designs. You can discuss them with the artists beforehand so that they come prepared. Keep the folder on your phone or have printouts of the design so that it is easier to communicate.

Checklist For Your Mehendi Ceremony: Have a List of What The Mehendi Artists Require

More often than not, Mehendi artists need at least multiple pillows to keep the hands and feet steady. Some also need stationary to keep a track of how much work they have done. So, have a conversation with your Mehendi artist about the things they require and include them in the checklist for your Mehendi ceremony. Ensure that all the things are arranged two-three days before the event to avoid the last-minute rush.

Pick a Comfortable Seat For Yourself

As the bride, you are going to be sitting in one position for hours while the artists create the henna art on your hands and feet. Additionally, you will be the centre of attention. This requires you to have a seat that is not only grand and beautiful but also extremely comfortable.

Ultimate Checklist For Your Mehendi: Eat Food!

Even though there is always someone who keeps feeding you throughout the event, we advise you to have a mini-meal before sitting down with the Mehendi artist. This way you will remain comfortable and amiable throughout the ceremony.

Have Finger-Friendly Food On The Day

At least half the guests at the event will have Mehendi on their hands, making it difficult to eat food that requires a lot of effort. So, while you are planning the menu for the ceremony, make sure you have a majority of finger foods to make it easier for everyone to eat. Stay away from any dishes that require the guests to get their hands dirty.

Checklist For Your Mehendi: Put Thought Into Your Outfit and Jewellery

The last thing you want to do during your Mehendi ceremony is to destroy your outfit and jewellery by staining them. So, pick a lehenga that is comfortable in terms of fabric and embellishments as you have to sit in it for a long time. If you are planning to wear real jewellery, give someone the responsibility of taking care of it when you have to remove your bangles and rings for the henna application.

Have a Bridal Emergency Kit Ready

This one translates to all the events but especially the Mehendi ceremony. Keep a spare outfit in place in case you stain option one. Also, keep a pair of juttis or any other pair of flats to replace your heels. Additionally, keep handy some hair pins, safety pins, double-sided tape and sanitiser amongst other things.
