There are a lot of factors to consider, your face shape, the size of your forehead, your outfit and of course the rest of the jewellery. What you could also do is play around with some kundan/polki work on the band of the tikka — the  area which usually has the chain. It’ll make the maang tikka stand out even more. You can definitely play around with shapes but a classic big round maang tikka would work perfectly well and you could line the edges with some tiny white pearls to complete it.
