Share this:

There are various types of maang tikka out there in the market and it can of course be daunting and confusing which ones to choose from for your wedding day. There are a lot of factors to consider, your face shape, the size of your forehead, your outfit and of course the rest of the jewellery. You have to look at the shape, size, work, colour and quality of the tikka that you decide to go for. If you are getting it customised that can be all the more perplexing. So of course it’s always a great idea to look at some inspiration and shortlist what kind of a maang tikka you actually want. Hence, we decided to compile a list of some beautiful and different types of maang tikka that can really help you decide on a unique design for yourself.

Here’s a list of some beautiful types of maang tikka.

Kundan & Polki

Is there any bridal jewellery complete without kundans and/or polkis? We don’t think so! Chances are the rest of your jewellery is going to incorporate either of the two stones so if you go for maang tikka with the same it would actually be a no-brainer. You could either go for full kundan or polki tikka or even play around with some other stones to add some colour to it. What you could also do is play around with some kundan/polki work on the band of the tikka — the  area which usually has the chain. It’ll make the maang tikka stand out even more. You can definitely play around with shapes but a classic big round maang tikka would work perfectly well and you could line the edges with some tiny white pearls to complete it. These chunky round ones are the perfect maang tikka for oval face and would work especially well if you have a bigger forehead.

If you are the kind of bride who likes something OTT then go for this passa/jaal style maang tikka. It covers not only your forehead but works rather well to cover your crown area as well which looks beautiful! You don’t necessarily have to be a big forehead girl for these types of maang tikka for you’d anyway have to tie it up from the back of your head and only the lower part of jewellery would cover your forehead. Of course it’s the perfect maang tikka for broad forehead. We’d recommend for the rest of your jewellery, you opt for something that is slightly lighter to balance the whole look.

If you are going for a whole diamond set then why not a beautiful diamond maang tikka. One thing we’d recommend is opting for a whole diamond set if you are someone with a neutral or pink undertone. The reason being that it would work beautifully with your undertone. Of course considering that you’re opting for diamond something small and dainty would only make sense. So something small like this would be the perfect maang tikka for small forehead.

Playing with Pearls

If you are someone who is obsessed with pearls then a full pearl maang tikka sure sounds like a dream. It is one of those types of maang tikka that will definitely stand out. If the rest of your jewellery has pearls then this would be just perfect! We particularly love this bride’s use of gold foil which is a rather refreshing and unique idea. If you don’t want to overdo the pearls you can balance it out with some mirror, kundan or polki work. It will effortlessly merge into the jewellery. If you wish to match the use of pearls in your jewellery you could have some faux pearl work in your outfit! A big round maang tikka like this would look beautiful. It offers you an opportunity to play around with all the stones and all!

Stonework Maang Tikka

If you love colours then play around with some varied stones in your jewellery and/or maang tikka. Rubies and emeralds paired together look stunning! So if your outfit has those sorts of colours then something like this would be perfect for you. Of course, the colours would need some balancing out which again can be done with the help of kundan/polki work. If you’d like to add a few more elements then play with pearls. And you’d have yourself a full stonework maang tikka. We love the unique shape of this maang tikka and how the piece has been finished off with green stones. If that is too heavy for you then this round one is a beautiful piece you can go for.

We hope these pretty and unique types of maang tikka helped you decide on the perfect one for yourself. For any assistance in wedding planning and shopping get in touch with us at Styl-Inc. Our team of experts will guide you efficiently.
