Gotta take care of all the catering, decor and doing it all within your budget. While there are many things that together make for a beautiful wedding, your venue is definitely one of the most important details. Whether your planning a local wedding or a destination wedding, make sure you consider the following points before finalizing everything.

Questions to Ask Before Booking your Wedding Venue

One of the most important questions to ask before you finalise your wedding venue is about the capacity. Post covid, most people are hosting smaller gatherings. And on the other hand, improving situations have also led to a return of the big fat Indian weddings. Either way, you must have a clear idea on how many guests can be accommodated at your venue. You don’t want a crowded venue and at the same time you don’t want the hall to look too empty. So always make sure you book the appropriate area for all your functions. Also, make sure you have enough seating for your guests. Not everyone will be sitting at all times. So you don’t need to have an exact amount of seating, but make sure there is enough to avoid overcrowding and chaos.

Does the Cost of the Wedding Venue fit in Your Budget?

This is obviously the most important question you need to ask before finalizing your wedding venue. You must allot a certain budget to every single wedding related expense to help you manage your money better. And make sure that the venue that you finalize fits in your budget. Of course, these are all approximate amounts and little up, down is totally fine. But if a venue goes way beyond your budget, it just isn’t worth it. You can find plenty of options in your budget. It’s just a matter of research and a little patience.

Ask the Management About Vendors

Many venues have strict policies regarding vendors. Venues generally have a list of vendors that they have contracts with. But it isn’t always necessary that you’ll like or prefer those vendors. whether it is catering, bar management, décor or event management, having the freedom to choose your team is extremely important. Make sure this is not something you have to compromise on. After all, the venue isn’t the only important thing when it comes to planning a wedding. The décor, food and drinks are equally important. If your heart is set on a particular venue and they have a preferred vendor list, at least go through the list to make sure the teams are up to the mark. Your confidence and choice is what matters the most on this day. You can even go through their portfolio or taste test their food before finalizing anything.

Does the Place Have a Liquor License?

Liquor license is a must if you want to serve alcohol at your wedding. Before you finalise the wedding venue, it’s important to ask whether the place has a proper liquor license or not. If they don’t you won’t be able to serve any alcohol at the function. So make sure to check all the paperwork. Also, make sure you ask about sourcing the alcohol. If the team at the venue can source it for you or not? Can you get your own alcohol or not? What brands they’ll be serving and what are the charges for everything? These are extremely important questions to ask before any last minute confusions. Make sure everything is as per your requirements and needs before going ahead with the deposit.

Pro Tip: Always choose your wedding venue based on the weather forecast and the season. If it’s too hot, or it’s rainy season, it’s wise to have an indoor wedding. And if the wedding is in a pleasant whether and around October-November, you can have it in a gorgeous outdoor venue.

One of the most essential aspects of a Hindu wedding is a fire pit. While most places do have a separate area where you can set up the fire pit, some places might not have that facility. If you’re planning a traditional Hindu wedding, make sure the place allows fire pits. Not just this, you also need to check whether the place has proper fire permits and safety protocol in place or not. We often take safety for granted, but having a proper safety protocol is extremely important, especially in Hindu weddings. We don’t want any mishaps to go out of hand just because of poor management, right?

Get the Complete Breakdown of the Services

While finalizing your wedding venue, one of the most important tips is to not be in a hurry. Don’t rush into any decision. You want your functions to go smoothly, and for that you’ll need the best services at the venue. So make sure you get the management to give you the full breakdown of all the services they’ll be offering you. There are several services that the venue must provide like bridal room, valet parking, cleaning, etc. Check these off with the management beforehand as you’ll be too preoccupied on the big day to take care of these things. Also, look out for any hidden charges for extra services. You don’t want any misunderstandings while billing. Make sure the team knows that the guests are your priority and should be treated as such.

Any Restrictions in Terms of Noise and Timings

Another important point to consider before booking your wedding venue is the timings and restrictions in terms of music and DJ. Many venues will tell you that they will only allow you to play music up to a certain time. Either these places are near residential areas or they have certain policies that they need to adhere to. In order to make sure you and your guests enjoy their fullest without worrying about when to wrap up the function, ask these questions beforehand. You don’t need any last minute chaos in the middle of all the fun. So make sure the wedding venue you choose doesn’t have any of these restrictions. Music and dancing is a huge part of any wedding festivity. Make sure your venue allows DJ and dhol to play without any time or noise restrictions.

What is the Deposit and Cancellation Policy?

Another important point, especially in times of covid. All venues have different deposit and cancellation policies. And a lot of them have even changed them after Covid. Before you put down the payment, make sure you know about all the policies and their entire payment plan. God forbid there’s a cancellation at the last minute, you don’t want to lose all your deposit, right? So make sure you know everything clearly beforehand. There are also government policies regarding gathering that change all the time. So make sure to discuss about those eventualities. If the payment plan and deposit policies suit you, only then go ahead with the venue. Managing your funds is extremely important while planning a wedding. Make sure you’re being responsible with it.
