If you have never heard of bridal skincare then let us introduce you to the concept. If you are getting married this year then the correct skincare should be your first step. Skincare is a journey and process which takes its own time to show results. Hence, sorting that out first before all the wedding madness begins is very important. There are certain things you must do and certain you must not. We’re here to help you with the research and how to go about the whole process. It may be daunting and scary but with the right measures the process can become easy breezy. And no one routine suits all. You need to know your skin and body to be able to make the right decisions to have that glow on your big day. If you do it right, your makeup artist would thank you too. Hence, knowing one’s skin is a prerequisite and accordingly, you can create the perfect regimen. Also, ensure you create a discipline a few months before the wedding for that would help the most.

Here’s how to do the perfect bridal skincare before your big day

Know & Understand Your Skin

More often than not we are not even aware what exactly is our skin type. Now that you are getting married and curating the perfect bridal skincare routine knowing your skin type is the first type. It’s very important to know your skin and proceed accordingly. If only you know that can you pick the right routine and products for you. What you also need to understand is that your skin type will not always remain the same. It will keep changing. It can be according to the weather, your routine, the diet you follow and so much more. Hence, keeping an eye on it is important. To figure out your skin type, skip your nighttime routine for a day and the next day glide your finger over bare skin. If the finger slides through easily then yours is an oily skin type. If it doesn’t then it is dry and if it’s different for different parts of the face then it’s combination skin.

Consult a Dermat

Google and YouTube sure might be helpful tools but a professional can help you better. Every skin is different so you don’t want to solely rely on your own research. Ensure you go consult a dermat too, especially one you can trust. You should at least know what your skin does or does not need and can or cannot handle. If there are any treatments your skin needs you should at least get them done a month or two before the big day. Don’t do anything to your skin closer to the event because that can actually cause more harm. Treatments are bound to have side effects. So by any chance your skin might end up reacting in an unfavourable way, it will at least have time to heal. Closer to the day if it reacts then your makeup artist will have a much harder time and no matter what good skin is very important for the day.

The Work Within Reflects Outward

We are all very aware that what goes inside your body reflects on the skin. Your skin is your largest organ which ends up being exposed to a lot on a regular basis. Hence it is important to not only give it nourishment from outside but also within! So make sure all the healthy eating starts in time. Yes, start avoiding the junk too because during the events you are anyway going to do a lot of that. Try to have a balanced meal plan, especially one that includes a lot of nutrients, fruits and veggies. Trust us that is really all the work you need to do before your wedding day and the work will show on the skin too.

Avoid Bridal Skincare Gimmicks

Remember all those bridal packages with your facials, bleaches and work? Well those are also not always the best for you. Facials are something you most definitely need to avoid before your wedding day. They make your skin much more sensitive and can also lead to purging and/or side effects. So no you do not need that amazing bridal deal before your big day. Don’t saturate your skin with things it doesn’t need. What you also shouldn’t do is wax your face, that does more harm than good. The best thing to get rid of your peach fuzz is a razor and no it doesn’t harm you if done right. It rather exfoliates your skin and is extremely safe. You could even do it on the wedding day. However, as we said every skin is different so do test it once before your wedding.

Include Actives in your Bridal Skincare Regime

Actives are everywhere these days and thank god for those. They help break down your regime and specifically target your concerns. Doesn’t that make life much easier? We do recommend slowly inculcating some actives in your regime so that your skin can shine on the day. Make sure to do ample research before diving in. Once you are sure of what your skin needs start investing in actives a minimum of three to six months before the wedding. Any new skincare item at least takes two to three months to show results hence, start ahead of time. Make sure you don’t start using anything and everything at once. Start slow and use the product only once a week and then gradually increase their usage.

Detox All The Way

As we said, the work begins within. Our bodies can be hoarding up so many toxins especially because of all the pollution and dust we live in. Even because of the wrong food we might be consuming. Hence it’s very very important to start with a nice detox routine. So be it having lemon water, detox water, green tea and even just coconut water or fruits in the morning. Any sort of detox you prefer should help you.

Remove All Your Makeup Thoroughly

We might have also heard a lot that makeup is what is ruining our skin. However, it is actually not removing it properly that is harming our skin. With such amazing brands curating amazing makeup products, the majority of them are very safe. Hence, it wouldn’t be fair to say that makeup is what is harming your skin. However, if you are not properly getting rid of it at the end of the day then you are causing a lot more damage. Make sure you use a good makeup cleanser and double-cleanse your face to ensure your skin is properly clean.

With these simple tips and tricks included in your skincare, we are sure you would be glowing on your wedding day. Don’t buy into everything the world or the media tells you. Know your skin and work on it accordingly and your skin shall surely thank you. For more on wedding planning and styling get in touch with us at Styl Inc. and let us handle the rest.
