It’s no surprise that hd makeup products are the most highly used by makeup artists now. The logic behind the existence of HD makeup was to do away with cakey, powdery makeup which made one look scary. Hence, all the big guns in the industry shifted their focus to making silicone based products which offered a lot more in a lot less. Yes, that is to say brands started delivering on the kind of products that offered good coverage in a smaller amount. No doubt, investing in good makeup is what everyone suggests nowadays, because it does the job and lasts you a very long time too. It also helps in  avoiding the makeup from getting cakey. Moreover, HD makeup is silicone based which is the main ingredient offering that flawless finish without getting too heavy.

Airbrush Makeup

Air brush bridal makeup was all the rage back when HD makeup was not a thing. Everybody was in awe of the flawless yet light finish it offered. Not only can you create a base using airbrush makeup tools but you can actually do the whole makeup with it. From the eyes to the face to the lips. As is obvious, airbrush is a highly buildable kind of makeup since the airgun used offers one full control on the intensity and quantity of the product that comes out of it. Hence, the fear of it getting cakey can be kept to the side. It is also said the airbrush makeup lasts much longer than HD. The airbrush products too are silicone based, hence the flawless look!

Now, the big secret here is that you cannot solely depend on airbrush makeup for your big day. Since the amount of product that lands on your face is extremely little, it is a much more time consuming process. That is the reason why all the MUAs prefer to get the base ready using HD makeup using blenders and brushes and then going ahead with a light spritz of the airbrush. Yes! So HD makeup is either way inevitable. Of course, that doesn’t take away from the flawlessness of airbrush but on the other hand, HD makeup too offers a rather flawless finish.

Now the question is when to opt for which kind of makeup.

Skin Type

Now the first thing one ought to consider while choosing is their skin type. While HD makeup does a brilliant job of covering everything up, some people may even need to opt for airbrush makeup. If you are someone with major open pores then you might need to consider airbrush makeup. That is not to say that your pores will completely disappear but you’ll see a difference of about 30-40% for sure. Since HD makeup products are pushed into the skin, they seep through the 2nd and 3 layers. Airbrush makeup on the other hand adds a layer onto the skin and fills up the pores a little. Don’t worry it doesn’t make you look cakey if you makeup artist has good mastery and control over the product quantity.

Other than that, if you have super sensitive skin then also you could consider airbrushing. Most airbrush products are hypoallergenic, so it’s definitely suitable for people with super sensitive skin. Contrarily there are a lot of hypoallergenic HD products available in the market too. So you have to communicate it to your MUA. So, if you are someone rather particular about protecting your skin, opt for airbrush makeup.

How Natural Do You Want it to Be?

As mentioned before it completely does depend on your makeup artist how natural or heavy of a look you want. Of course both makeups can be made to look natural, but there’ll always be some slight differences in the finishing of both. If you are okay and comfortable with adding some layers on the skin then go for Airbrush makeup. As mentioned before, most makeup artists would firstly do HD makeup using traditional tools for you and then add a layer of airbrush makeup.

However, if you want it to be rather light and subtle then a simple HD makeup look with light coverage should do the work. Of course as a bride, HD makeup lends you look ideal for pictures. The reason behind the name is the HD quality of pictures that came into the picture a few years ago. The blemishes and layering that used to be visible in HD pictures can now very well be hidden with HD makeup.

Lastly, when it comes to contouring which is a big part of makeup, HD makeup offers a more blendable option. With airbrush makeup, your MUA has to spend a bit more time to achieve that flawless look.

This was all the tea on HD and airbrush makeup. We hope you can now decide which one would be best for you. For any assistance in wedding planning and styling get in touch with us at Styl Inc. and our team of professionals will guide you expertly.
