  1. How to determine your body type

The first step in this, would be finding out what your body type is. You’ll need a clothing tape for this.

The silhouette of your body is what your body shape is. However, figuring that out can be tricky sometimes. So we’ll be using a measuring tape.

  • Shoulders, Bust, Waist and Hips:

Taking these four body measurements are the most secure way of understanding your body shape. The correlation between these measurements will determine your body shape.

Measurements

Shoulders: You’ll need someone else to take this measurement for you. Wrap the tape around the widest point of your shoulders and pen down your measurement.

Bust: Start by measuring the fullest part of your bust from under the shoulder. Make sure that the tape isn’t too tight or too loose, it should be snug enough that you’re comfortable.

Waist: Contrary to how you measured your bust, this time you have to measure the narrowest part of your waist. Measure the indentation of your waist which is usually just above the belly button.

Hips: Just like your bust and shoulders, you have to measure the circumference of your hips from the fullest part.

Once you have all your measurements, you can easily determine your body shape. Don’t let popular opinions make you believe that adjectives such as petite, tall, short or curvy determine your body type. They don’t, your body parts do that.

   2. Five most common body types:

While there are many different body types, most of the women range between these five: triangle, inverted triangle, oval, rectangular and hourglass.

  • Triangle Body Shape:

If your hips are wider than your upper body, then you most probably have a triangle body type.
